As the fall months approach what better time than now to reflect on what has been a great season of golf in Atlantic Canada. Although the season started out a little slowly we experienced some great weather and excellent course conditions throughout the region. I trust the season has treated you well and remind everyone that Fall Golf in Atlantic Canada is some of the best golf you will play any year so get out there and enjoy yourself.
The 2017 season was highlighted by some wonderful events held at amazing facilities and supported by first class partners. A couple of great team events that were very well attended included the Cobra PUMA Spring Pro AM held at Cabot Links and the Callaway Two Person Scramble held at Links at Brunello. In addition the Tim Horton’s Zone Championship held at Stanhope and the Taylor Made Adidas Players Championship held at Sussex were very successful events. Last but certainly not least was the Pro Junior event held at Abercrombie, a favorite event for the kids and the professionals. Congrats to all of the winners and thank you to the host facilities for your support of the PGA of Canada Atlantic Zone.
The role of the PGA Professional continues to expand in today’s industry, but the one thing that will always hold true is their position as the leaders and keepers of the game. The PGA Professional is the individual who is most involved with the member at any given facility and they play a vital role in leading the overall golfer experience. It is through this regular communication with golfers that relationships are developed and the PGA Professional has the responsibility to ensure the best possible experience for his or her members and guests. Thankfully, we have a number of great PGA Professionals in Atlantic Canada that fill their roles admirably.
I would like to extend a sincere thank you to my fellow PGA of Canada Professionals for their time and efforts in promoting and growing the great game of golf. Whether it was through weekly junior clinics at their facilities, hosting outside events, tournaments or club championships, your local PGA Professional played an active role in ensuring the events success and the golfers enjoyment.
I trust the 2017 season has been an enjoyable one for all golfers. On behalf of the 175 PGA of Canada Professionals working at 70 facilities throughout Atlantic Canada I would like to wish all golfers an enjoyable finish to the 2017 season.
Yours in golf,
